Men in the UK will soon be able to buy Cialis tablets as an over-the-counter medication after a court battle erupted.
Judge Helen Butler ordered a hearing before her decision on Friday, a day after her verdict of nearly 100 cases was hung up.
The verdict was being handed down in June. Judge Butler ordered a hearing before a joint UK and EU High Court in London.
A spokesman for the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, Medicines and Medical Devices (MHRA), said: "In light of the significant impact the trial had on patients’ access to treatment, the MHRA, and the impact that the decision had on patients’ health, the MHRA was advised that an appropriate and fair hearing will be held on Friday evening."
The decision means that Cialis, which lasts for about 36 hours, will be available without a prescription to the public for regular treatment of erectile dysfunction, impotence and other conditions affecting men of all ages.
It was the second time that a court has taken a decision that came after a case involving an over-the-counter version of the drug had been transferred to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 2012.

She also said the company had not shown a "clear link" between the drug and the condition.
The judge also ordered that the case be submitted to the US Supreme Court, where the case will be heard in March.
The court ruled that Lilly had failed to demonstrate a "precise link" between the product and erectile dysfunction.
She noted that the trial had "not demonstrated that Lilly had not proved a direct causal link between the drug and the condition".
It was also noted that the court had "not demonstrated that Lilly’s patents were invalid or unenforceable".
Judge Butler, in her decision, said Lilly had infringed its patents and had "certainly" been infringing its patent rights.
She said Lilly's products had been used in the UK for years and had "certainly" been sold in the US for years, and had "certainly" been used in the UK for decades.
However, the judge added that the company had not shown that it had been infringed by the medicine in the US.
Lilly is now facing a number of cases, including a product licence dispute in 2019, involving two US companies.
Judge Butler said the case had "certainly" been "in the interest of patient access to treatment".
